February 5, 2012

Honestly, the first thing I think of when I wake up in the morning is coffee.  It doesn't matter if I wake up before my alarm or hit the snooze button several times; coffee with hazelnut creamer is on my mind.  The challenge for me in today's text (Mark 1:29-39) is to think of God first and not coffee.  Jesus, exhausted from the ministry of healing and teaching, made an appointment with God "very early in the morning."  Before the sun was up, Jesus was alone with God.  This special time prepared him for the work he had come to earth to do.  Since he is our example in life and faith, we, too, need to make an appointment with God to prepare ourselves for the work we have come to earth to do.
